Subject:The New Stove . . .
Security:Public
Mood: content

I finally got my new stove delivered this morning, after several months of procrastinating and not having a working oven. It's pretty, and white, and I'm kindof excited about it.

Yaron is going to hook it up for me tomorrow. *smiles*

Also, you have no idea how many cat toys were under my old stove. It was like a graveyard of forgotten toys! Including a few that weren't mine.

My next chore is to pick out a futon. I've only looked at a couple, and found a frame I liked at Depth of Field, but I have to choose a mattress kind. I wanted my mom to come down and help pick because she's the one that's going to be sleeping on it most of the time. But she hasn't been down because of various things, and my dad's been sick.

Have I mentioned my dad's sick? He's having all sorts of hip pain, which he's had for years but is now getting worse, and is on a lot of pain killers. He's driving my mom insane, but that's not really that new. What's new is that she has to spend more time taking care of him, instead of doing things she wants to do that would get her out of the house.

Two months ago tonight, Yaron and I went on our first date.

How times change.

Mood: pondering

I was bike home tonight, and passed a small marsh area where some red-winged blackbirds flew.

I noticed one of them flying close above me, and then, it suddenly took a downward dive toward me.

And then another. And another.

I swear, the thing was bend on causing bodily harm to me. Luckily, it seemed to lose interest as I pedaled faster.

I feel like this must be some kind of ominous sign of something, but I am not sure what.

I don't think I should need to turn the heat back on *again* after Memorial Day. It's just kindof sad and wrong.

1) I love Tide-to-Go sticks.

2) I can't decide whether chocolate covered / custard filled donuts are very good or very evil, because they taste so good.

3) My sister's kind of annoying me.

4) I really don't feel like being at work today. Like, more than normal.

5) The whole "cat waking me up before 6am" routine has gotten old.

I spend most of the weekend with Yaron :)

On Friday night, we made some progress on the painting living room situation. It's looking a lot better. I keep changing my mind on the accent wall. Since it's only a shade darker, it almost looks like the walls around it are the same color when the light is kindof funny.

On Saturday, we wandered around REI and world market. I made my veggie enchiladas recipes for dinner, and Yaron introduced me to this really awesome hot sauce that had a great flavor, although I kept burning my tongue with it.

Today was a day full of sleeping late, and cuddling. It was Gigi's birthday.

It was a good weekend :)

1) Seemed like a blur

2) I biked all the way home from work twice. I would have tried it two more times, but the weather hasn't been very nice.

3) I put the first coat of paint on the accent wall, I think the color will be fine. It's not as dramatic as I thought it would be, but it's still nice. Not going to try going another shade up. I think I'm almost to the point of doing things more along the lines of interior design, which is kind of exciting to me. I'm really looking forward to picking out throw pillows. And the new couch.

4) My place is a mess. Right now, I'm a quarter after 8am on Saturday morning, trying to organize. I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean, but it seems like it's supposed to indicate something.

5) Work wanted us to come in for a few hours today, voluntarily. My immediate response to this was an emphatic NO!

6) On Wednesday, Yaron and I went to this Indian place he had been telling me about. It was a very nice evening. Particularly, the after dinner part.

7) The world feels crisp with possibilities.

Jenny kissed me when we met,
Jumping from the chair she sat in;
Time, you thief, who love to get
Sweets into your list, put that in!
Say I'm weary, say I'm sad,
Say that health and wealth have missed me,
Say I'm growing old, but add,
Jenny kissed me.

They gave out May Day gift bags today at work. They included such random-ness as fruit mentos, applesauce, chex mix, capri sun drink, rice cripy bar and a three musketeers.

I've really been able to stock up on cute gift bags since I've started working here :)

I was listen to NPR this morning, and they were interviewing someone about the violence in video games, as the new Grand Theft Auto is coming out. And the guy said something like, 'I thought I was an expert on parenting, that is until I had children.'

Very true . . .

Did you know that the Archduke Franz Ferdinand has an entry in IMDB?

Two things I wouldn't have thought would go together.

Mood: contemplative

My co-worker, Tammy, was telling me today about how their neighbors had painted their counter-tops instead of replacing them. She said that she thought they turned out looking good, but at first she couldn't decide. I couldn't tell if she was being Minnesota-nice, or not. I think it might have been Minnesota nice.

I was thinking of replacing my counters because of the color, but it might be kindof expensive. I'm not sure. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I suppose that it would be cheaper to try some paint first, and then get the counters replaced as a last resort.

It seems like people are always blaming things on "the weather".

I was late to work because of the snow / rain.

I've been depressed lately because of the weather.

We haven't had any rain, so the crops are behind.

We've had so much rain that the crops are half drowned

I'm glad I'm not "the weather" or else I'd be permanently peeved at the human race!

It looks like I could possibly leave work *ON TIME* today! Super exciting!

Granted, I have no focus right now, so it's not like I'd be very productive if I tried to stay late . . .

There's so many interesting entries on my f-list right now! I hope I will have time to respond to all of them with the attention they deserve!

Last night, I accomplished a lot. (For me.) I unpacked. I did two loads of laundry. I washed all of the dishes I got from Bev, and put all the odds and ends away. I tried to fix a broken lamp. I successfully glued my fingers together. I had some quality feline lap time.

I am hoping that I will be productive at home tonight, but I might try to make dinner at home, so that might weight me down time-wise. I would like to spend time cleaning out part of the pantry/closet, and possibly call my sister to talk about her move.

I biked/bused into work today, so I am also going to try to make all the way home, the first of the season.

I spend some time over the weekend feeling frustrated about how little I've accomplished in my personal life so far this year, due to all the overtime. I am hoping to adjust this.

Second only to my hatred of networks that reschedule shows and don't both to change their advertisements or website schedules, is the sports overtime crap that gets shows pushed around.

Come on. Put it all on one channel, and let the rest of us live our lives already.

. . . It seems a little ridiculous that I've spent the last three days worrying about work. And sure, nothing that I requested to get done while I was out yesterday actually got done, but today hasn't been that bad . . .
